New Business:
Mr. Libby presented a summary of the Search Committees focus group and survey
findings. Particular discussion was given to re-vamping the Sunday morning schedule to
include Adult and Youth Sunday school services. This new schedule would include Choir
practice from 9:30 to 10:20am, Youth chapel from 9:30-9:50am, and Youth education from
9:50 to 10:20am. Adult Sunday school would simultaneously be held from 9:30 to 10:20am.
Mr. Larry Hlad will be heading the Christian Education Action committee to discuss this
new possibility as well as review the current Sunday school curriculum and class
structure.
Old Business - Vestry assignments and reports:
Committee Reports:
Parish Life/Outreach: Ms. Gallagher stated that Oct. 4 and Nov. 1 have been booked for
Olan Mills to take pictures for the new Church Directory. Mrs. Kathy Orth will handle the
sign-up sheets and flyers for this project. Ms. Gallagher also asked for volunteers to
help get members signed-up for their pictures.
Pastoral care: Mrs. Kemner will be meeting with the Partlows to talk about Lay Ministry
and pastoral care issues.
Stewardship & Finance: Mrs. McClellan sent out the Stewardship letter for the
Vestry members to review. She will be meeting with the Partlows about starting up this
campaign. It will most likely begin in September and end October 1. She also asked the
Vestry for names of volunteers who would be willing to visit members and discuss
stewardship issues.
Worship: Mr. Butler spoke with Dr. Chris Swanson about robes for the Childrens
choir. Dr. Swanson will get back to him about this possibility.
Young Adults and Youth: Rev. Bob Partlow talked about the possibility of getting a new
Campus Minister. This position would be handled through the Diocese. The new St.
Annes Rector could possibly also work as the new Campus Minister. He will be meeting
soon with members at St. Annes to discuss this position. He also discussed
establishing a Campus Ministry endowment. Mrs. Southall moved, seconded by Mr. Butler, for
Rev. Bob Partlow to move forward on establishing an endowment for Campus Ministry.
Buildings and Grounds: Looking for person to disassemble lockers in vesting room.
Communication and Administration: Mr. Libby got a sample contract from Ms. Peggy
Hargrave to use as a modified template for the musicians contracts. He also plans to
talk with Mrs. Kathy Orth about working on the churchs Web site structure.
Vestry Reports:
Search Committee update: The group is currently working on the Church profile that will
identify who we are as a Church, where weve been, and our future goals. This profile
will summarize the findings from the Search Committees focus group discussions and
survey. This profile will also be used for the new members directory. Mrs. Cleo
Shields has worked extensively in putting all of this information together.
Election of delegates for Special Diocesan Council: The Council will meet Saturday,
Oct. 6, and Feb. 9 and 10. Two delegates and two alternates are needed for this council.
Mrs. Elsie Wilson and Mr. Mark Linker were selected as delegates, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Archer were selected as alternates. Ms. Gallagher moved, seconded by Mr. Libby, that these
selected members be approached to serve on this council. The motion carried.
Mrs. Carolyn Black will preach August 19, and will speak with members after Church
about Christian formation.
Ms. Cindy Barnes will conduct prevention of child abuse and sexual harassment training
on Oct. 20 at the Parish House.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00pm after Compline.
Respectfully submitted,
Sarah P. Southall, Register
