Rev Christopher T. Cunningham and family
Remember FACES Food Distribution day for our parish is the first
Saturday of every month. Please mark the following FACES days down on your
calendar and be apart of this important ministry.
Adult Choir Practice is each Wednesday at 7:00PM in the
Choir Room of the Parish House. Childcare is provided and all parishioners are
welcome to join this music ministry.
The Vestry meets the second Tuesday of the month. Vestry
meetings are always open to all parishioners.
Stewardship campaign is underway.
What is Stewardship?
Because everything is a gift from God, we are only stewards, or managers of all that we
have. Everything belongs to God. Since we do not have ownership if anything,
it is our responsibility to take care of and make good use of what God has entrusted to
us.
Stewardship is as much about how we use our time as about what we can bring to God's
service/ It is an on going process, very much a part of the Christian grown and
development, like learning a skill, trade or profession which we learn and develop.
In our Christian life, Stewardship requires us prayerfully to consider and decide on our
giving. Church Stewardship responsibility requires us to fulfill our duty through
skills and time, but for all of the congregation, it will mean financial giving.
Stewardship allow Johns Memorial to plan for its financial needs; expenses such as
utilities, payroll, Diocesan Pledge, programs, worship and others as well as determining
repairs and maintenance.
Stewardship teaches the happy virtue of gratitude. We tend to think of ourselves as
"self-made." We forget that all we have, we have received.
Stewardship changes the attitudes, too, for giving is an acknowledgement that "it is
God that hath made us and not we ourselves." Psalm 100:3
The people who give are saying "Thank You," to God for all that they have.
For it is in giving that we truly receive.
