F.A.C.E.S. Food Ministry
Farmville Area Community Emergency Services
FACES is a community-based program that provides food to local families in need.
Johns Memorial participates in this program to help eliminate hunger in our community and
as extension of our ministry to our brothers and sisters. In 2003, Johns Memorial
assisted in receiving a grant for $12,000 from the Episcopal Church's United Thank
Offering to purchase a delivery truck for FACES to help meet the increasing demands on the
program.
Each Saturday, throughout the year, community groups gather at FACES Food Pantry (located
off the parking lot at the northern end of South Street next to Green Front Furniture) to
help bag, organize, and distribute food donations to area over 600 families.
Johns Memorial is responsible for providing volunteers for the first Saturday of
each month. Volunteers work the morning shift from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30
A.M. To find out how you can help with this important ministry, please contact our
parish liaison Geoff Orth. Geoff can be reached at home at (434) 392-3922.
Volunteers are also needed on Fridays at the FACES Food Pantry 11:30 A.M. to help unload
and organize the weekly delivery from the Central Virginia Foodbank.
FACES continually needs your support for:

There are two basket locations where food and bag donations can be left--one is located
