The Seal of
Johns Memorial Episcopal Church

The Seal of Johns Memorial was approved for use by the Vestry
in October 2005 to celebrate the growth and ministry of our vibrant parish. It will
be used for official church publications, stationary, and literature.
Taken from the "Christ the Good Shepherd" stained
glass window above the altar, the Agnus Dei (translated "lamb of God") is
imposed on the shield carrying the banner of Saint George--symbolizing our connection with
the mother Church of England. The ornate bishop's miter resting on top of the shield
honors the parish's namesake, The Right Reverend John Johns, Fourth Bishop of the Diocese
of Virginia. The year 1879 denotes the official organization of our parish which
occurred in the home of L.M. Blanton in Farmville.
The seal and surrounding device was drawn to the exacting
standards of traditional Episcopal Church heraldry by Chad Krouse. The graphic
artwork was graciously performed by Dr. Richard McClintock of Hampden-Sydney.
