Altar Guild

The Altar
Guild is the ministry of preparing and maintaining the altar, sacred vessels and vestments
for our worship services. Members of the Altar Guild perform a silent, or hidden
ministry to our Parish so that we may worship and glorify Christ. Members are
trained and assigned to a rotating team that is responsible for the services during a
given week.
Preparations for
weddings, funerals, and baptisms are also the responsibility of the Altar Guild.

The Altar Guild cares
for the linens, communion silver, liturgical hangings, candles, and brass vases which are
used in the various services. The changing vestments and altar
hangings remind us of the progression of seasons in the Christian calendar, and they
accent special services throughout the year.
The
Altar Guild works closely with the Rector, complementing the ministry of the Word and
sacraments.

A
Prayer for Altar Guild Members
Almighty God,
grant we beseech you,
that we may handle these Holy things with
reverence,
and perform our work with such
faithfulness and devotion
that it may rise with acceptance
before you and obtain your blessing;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
